![]() Saccharin was also under much controversy as researchers have claimed it to be a carcinogen. However it is now widely accepted as an artificial sweetener in many parts of the world, since the link between its properties and cancer have not been clearly established. However, there have been many arguments that these sugar substitutes pose dangerous threats to our health and well-being.įor example, Equal’s Aspartame was once the subject of various studies which seem to hint at its contribution to cancer. It was discovered in 1976 by researchers from Tate and Lyle Inc., a corporation that was initially founded by two sugar refining companies.Īrtificial sweeteners’ producers have claimed that they are beneficial to people watching their weight, diabetics and others. Splenda is made up of Sucralose which is over 600 times sweeter than sugar. Its initial popularity was caused by the sugar shortage during the First World War. Exceeding the sweetness content of Aspartame, it is around 300 to 500 times sweeter than sugar. It was discovered in the year 1879 by a scientist named Constantin Fahlberg. On the other hand, Saccharin is the main component of Sweet N Low and other brands such as Necta-sweet and Sweet Twin. However today, it is the main component of Equal. In the 1980s, it was almost not approved by the Food and Drugs Administration because of possible health risks. Aspartame is unique in the sense that it is reported to be 200 times sweeter than sugar. In the year 1965, a chemist named Jim Schlatter was able to discover and further develop an artificial sweetener coined as Aspartame, found in both Equal and another artificial sweetener called Nutrisweet. Equal happened to be one of the first brands of sugar substitutes to be introduced and sold to the general public.

Me: "I need you to spray this stuff on Elizabeth and keep her in the pool for at least an hour!" Me: "No - I have to figure out the Extra Care Bucks deals for this week"īrad: "Well - then why do I have to take the kids to the pool?" Me: "Brad! I need you to take the kids to the YMCA for a swim!" And so, I had the following conversation: The chlorine gives her a wicked rash that is very uncomfortable. Elizabeth has ALWAYS had a problem with getting a rash the first few times we go to the pool. This is a spray bottle that sprays on clear and is probably MUCH easier to use on squirming infants.įor this, we did a very scientific experiment. On to the next (and last bottle): The Boudreaux Rash Protector. While Elizabeth doesn't have a diaper rash right now, she does have a slight irritation on her hip from the diaper rubbing against her skin (probably because I can't buy a bigger size for her unless I buy DEPENDS!), and the All Natural Butt Paste cleared it right up. We've all been there - standing at the kitchen sink with a diaper wipe and a nail brush trying to get the diaper cream from out under our nails. This one goes on much easier, rubs in clear and is much easier to get off MY fingers after I am done with the diaper change. The next tube in the box? The new All Natural Boudreaux Butt Paste. So let's check out the other 2 versions of Butt Paste! ![]() This was/is a no-brainer for me to review.I actually haven't even opened that tube yet. The first thing they sent me was a tube of their traditional cream. The people at Boudreaux's Butt Paste sent me some of their new products to try and I have to say - I am still a fan! I've been dealing with that smell since 2001 and believe me when I say that I was more than ready to be done with it! Aside from the fact that it seemed to work better, my daughter didn't walk around with that distinctive "diaper rash cream smell". I had used another brand for my 2 sons and the Boudreaux seemed to work better on my daughter than the other brands (your results may vary). I decided to give it a try and it quickly became my favorite diaper cream. I first heard about Boudreaux's Butt Paste about 18 months ago when there were a bunch of $1 coupons floating around. (sigh).you have no idea how much I wish that I could have said to the people at Boudreaux Butt Paste "Oh - I can't review that! I have no need for diaper creams because my daughter is toilet trained!" Alas, my daughter seems to be determined to attend her Senior Prom in diapers (she'll be 4 years old in June). But, completely dependent on how far you want to walk each day (see below!)Ī post shared by lotuseaters_ We’ve written a Camino book! Find it at Amazon here: The Camino De Santiago Survival Guide What kind of ambience are you looking for on the Camino de Santiago route? One Month: With one month or more to play with, you can choose any route you like! T he Camino del Norte or Camino Frances are most popular with those who have 30 days to cover them. If you’re looking for a more challenging terrain, then try the Camino Primitivo – with a bit of speed behind you, then you should cover it in two weeks. You can walk the 250km from Porto to Santiago comfortably within 14 days. Two Weeks: With a full two week stint, I’d recommend the Camino Portuguese. If you’re looking for something different, then you could walk a stretch of the Camino del Norte – San Sebastian to Bilbao is popular and would be a great way to see two fab cities! This means you get to experience the atmosphere, you get to enter Santiago and you can officially collect a certificate for walking the last 100km! If you’re a fast walker and you have a full week, you may be able to get to Finisterre (the end of the world!) on the West Coast of Spain. Either, walk the last 100km into Santiago along the Camino Frances. One Week or Less: If you’ve only got one week or less on this occasion, then I’d say you have a few options. Perhaps you’re a teacher with the entire summer holidays stretching out in front of you, or you’ve just got one week of annual leave. The first key question is how much time you have. The Camino Frances, the French route, is also flatter than the Camino del Norte, but it would be difficult to describe it as easy! How much time do you need to walk the Camino de Santiago? Of the longer Caminos, the Portuguese route from Porto to Santiago is considered to be one of the flattest routes. Generally, most people will say that the Camino Ingles is the easiest route as it is short (around 70km from Coruna). However, many who have walked the Camino Primitivo will confirm that they found that harder than the Norte, often due to challenging weather conditions and extreme climbs. ![]() This is because there are many undulating hill climbs compared to the Camino Frances. In general, most people will think of the Camino del Norte as the hardest of the longer (i.e. Indeed, it is difficult to argue that any of the Camino routes in Spain and Portugal are not beautiful. However, many people note that the Primitivo from Oviedo, with the incredible mountain views is also stunning. Not only that, but you will walk through the stunning cities of San Sebastian, Bilbao and Gijon. This is because you walk along Northern Spain and at times have the option to walk on a direct coastal path overlooking the ocean. Generally, most people believe that the Camino del Norte is the most beautiful in terms of landscape. Which Camino route is the most beautiful? Here are some further statistics about the most popular Camino de Santiago route in 2021: Which Camino de Santiago route is the most popular?Īccording to statistics captured by the Pilgrims Office of Santiago, the most popular route in 2021 was the French Route (Camino Frances) with over 98,000 people completing the route (and registering their presence.) In terms of established Camino routes, there are seven that are most well known, but three or four that are most trodden. Over 200 Camino route have been registered, many of them are minor alterations to the main routes. There are in fact multiple Camino de Santiago routes. Let’s start with a basic question, is there more than one Camino de Santiago route?

La Sportiva offers a comprehensive line of boots and footwear. The brand’s Impact Brake System on the outsole functions to cushion and catch on terrain underfoot when hiking fast downhill. La Sportiva worked with Vibram to create the outsole, called “Nano.” ![]() The brand touts it for trail hiking to mild scrambling situations. ![]() It’s made to grip dirt trails, talus, and rock. The aggressive tread pattern made of sticky rubber is unique. The same holds true on dewy, early-morning hikes or light mountaineering in snow. Go ahead and walk through shallow streams or puddles. Gore-Tex Surround provides full waterproof protection and improves airflow around the foot. The result is underfoot breathability, whereas most footwear offers no air movement where the sock compresses against the insole. But Gore-Tex Surround incorporates a woven polyester or polyamide mesh insole that allows air to pass beneath the Gore-Tex bootie insert. Gore-Tex has long been used in hiking boots. La Sportiva balances the leather with breathable, protected mesh (see “Nano Cells” section above) to give you the best of both rugged protection and breathable comfort.įootwear Breathability From Gore-Tex Surround It is resistant to wear and a good choice for hiking boots. Nubuck leather is a rugged performer with a velvet-like surface. This system protects the mesh yet allows air to circulate around the bottom of the foot, letting feet breathe. You can see a fine (breathable) mesh material through the PU web. La Sportiva injects a polyurethane “web” onto the mesh upper to form what it calls Nano Cells. The Nucleo is for sale now at REI, in men’s and women’s models for $199. GearJunkie got a pair to inspect for this breakdown. This year, La Sportiva upped the ante with its Nucleo hiking boot by combining Gore-Tex Surround and a proprietary feature, Nano Cells (see the web pattern on the image above). The waterproof/breathable membrane Gore-Tex Surround increases breathability in footwear. Hiking boots can get clammy, especially on warm days. But the quest for breathability in waterproof boots has taken a step forward in recent years. A ‘macro membrane’ pattern serves as a visual cue (and a functional feature) on the Nucleo High GTX boot, which La Sportiva claims is its most breathable boot to date.
